🌱 CST EnviroTech Integrated Biomass–Hydrogen Comfort Heating System

CST EnviroTech’s Integrated Biomass–Hydrogen Comfort Heating System is a high-efficiency renewable energy solution designed to provide centralized hot water and space heating while maximizing energy recovery and minimizing fuel waste. In this system, biomass or MSW briquettes are converted in a gasifier into clean combustible producer gas (CO, H₂, CH₄), with ash safely separated as residue. The raw gas is purified through a tar separation unit before being supplied to an IC engine–alternator for on-site power generation.

The electricity generated supports auxiliary systems and powers an alkaline electrolyser that produces hydrogen. This hydrogen is blended back into the engine fuel stream to enhance combustion efficiency and increase overall energy extraction from the same biomass input. Oxygen generated during electrolysis can be safely vented or used for additional applications.

The engine exhaust, typically around 550°C, is recovered in a Heat Recovery Boiler (HRB), where incoming cold water is converted into hot water. This hot water is circulated through panel heaters installed in multiple rooms, providing uniform and controlled indoor heating. After heat exchange, the cooled water returns to the system, forming a closed-loop heating circuit that minimizes water loss and maximizes thermal efficiency.

In addition to exhaust heat recovery, thermal energy from the engine jacket water system is also utilized, further improving system performance and ensuring stable heating output even during varying load conditions.

The result is an integrated renewable heating platform that simultaneously delivers electricity, hydrogen enrichment, and hot water for space heating from the same biomass source. By reducing dependency on diesel boilers, electric heaters, or LPG systems, the solution offers a sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible alternative for residential complexes, hotels, hospitals, hostels, and institutional buildings in cold climates.
