CST EnviroTech’s Integrated Biomass–Hydrogen Steam & Energy System is an advanced multi-output renewable energy platform designed to maximize energy utilization while minimizing waste. In this process, biomass briquettes are converted in a gasifier into clean combustible producer gas (CO, H₂, CH₄), with ash safely separated as residue. The gas is purified through a tar separation unit to remove heavy hydrocarbons and particulates before being supplied to an IC engine–alternator for electricity generation. The generated power is used within the plant, particularly to operate an alkaline electrolyser that produces hydrogen. This hydrogen is blended back into the fuel stream to enhance combustion efficiency and increase overall energy extraction. Simultaneously, high-temperature engine exhaust (~550°C) is recovered in a heat recovery boiler (HRB), where water is converted into steam. The steam and recovered thermal energy are utilized for industrial applications such as tea withering, drying, steam radiators, and process heating. Additional heat is recovered from engine jacket water, further improving system efficiency. The result is a highly efficient integrated solution that delivers electricity, hydrogen, steam, and process heat from the same biomass input — ensuring maximum resource optimization and significant reduction in firewood dependency.
